Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra (Asteriks ve Oburiks: Görevimiz Kleopatra)

Determined to show Julius Caesar that her people match Rome in every way, Queen Cleopatra bets that a splendid palace can rise in the desert in a mere three months. The commission goes to the architect Numérobis, provoking the fury of the jealous royal architect Amonbofis; failure means being thrown to the sacred crocodiles. Desperate to beat the deadline, Numérobis journeys to Gaul to enlist his old friend Panoramix, guardian of the magic potion, together with Asterix and Obelix. The trio follows him to Alexandria, where they battle the scheming Amonbofis and Roman interference until the work is done.

Drawn from the comic by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, this fantasy comedy is the second live-action Asterix feature after Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar (1999). Alain Chabat wrote and directed it while also portraying Caesar, with Christian Clavier and Gérard Depardieu back in their roles and Monica Bellucci and Jamel Debbouze joining the ensemble. The costliest French production of its era, it drew over fourteen million admissions in France, ranking among the country's biggest hits, and earned the César Award for Best Costume Design.
