Beau-père

Beau-père is a 1981 French comedy-drama written and directed by Bertrand Blier, adapted from his own novel of the same name. It tells the story of Rémi, a 30-year-old pianist who begins an affair with his 14-year-old stepdaughter Marion after her mother dies in a car accident. Patrick Dewaere, Ariel Besse and Maurice Ronet star, with Nathalie Baye also among the cast. Blending grief and loss with Blier's signature dark humour, the film tackles provocative subject matter while retaining its director's singular style. It screened at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival and received an international release. Despite the controversy surrounding its theme, it earned some positive reviews and was praised for its sensitivity and the strength of its performances.
