Les Acteurs

Movie · 2000 · 7 people

Les Acteurs is a French comedy from 2000, written and directed by Bertrand Blier. Its unusual conceit is that the celebrated faces of French film at the turn of the century play themselves on screen. The ensemble features such names as Jean-Paul Belmondo, Alain Delon, Gérard Depardieu, Michel Serrault, Jean-Pierre Marielle and Pierre Arditi, with many more recognizable figures appearing alongside them. Blier turns this gathering into an affectionate yet irreverent look at the movie world, poking fun at actors and stardom while also saluting the great performers of earlier generations who had passed away. Running about 103 minutes, the picture brings together the most popular French cinema stars of the decades from the 1950s to the 1980s, giving it the character of a playful tribute to an era of French filmmaking.
