Cemil

Cemil is a 1975 Turkish crime-action film directed and produced by Melih Gülgen, with a screenplay by Bülent Oran. Police commissioner Cemil is out on patrol when a report leads him to the body of a young woman lying on the beach. At the autopsy he meets the victim's father, Tahsin Erkoç, a retired military officer, and is deeply moved by the grieving man, resolving to track down whoever killed his daughter. Working alongside his colleague Ahmet, Cemil follows the evidence until it points to a drug smuggling ring whose reach extends beyond the country's borders. Meanwhile Tahsin, unwilling to wait for the police, hunts the gang by himself and ends up exchanging gunfire with its men, forcing Cemil and Ahmet to arrive and step in at the critical moment.

Cüneyt Arkın plays the lead, joined by Ahmet Mekin, Eşref Kolçak, Yıldırım Gencer, Ayfer Feray, Aydın Haberdar, Hüseyin Zan and Ata Saka. The film's score was composed by Cahit Berkay, with cinematography by Muzaffer Turan.
