Tigers Don't Cry (Kaplanlar Ağlamaz) (translated)
Kaplanlar Ağlamaz (Tigers Don't Cry) reached audiences on 1 November 1978 as a colour Yeşilçam action film with adventure and melodrama strands. Remzi Jöntürk wrote and directed it, and Cüneyt Arkın stars as Canpolat, a hard-edged tough guy who takes on the mob. Deniz Kalkavan and Hürrem Erman produced it, and it represents the popular action storytelling of the Yeşilçam of its day.
Canpolat works as a hired killer. When his brother is committed to an asylum because of drug addiction, he sets out to settle accounts with the people who got him hooked and run the trade. His old rival Adem breaks him out of hospital and police custody, intending to sell him to the mob and use the money to put his daughter Hasret through school. But as certain truths come out, events take a different turn. Ahmet Mekin plays Adem and İnci Engin plays Hasret, with Romalı Perihan, Ata Saka as a policeman and Muhteşem Durukan as the grocer in the cast.
On the other side Osman F. Seden plays "Baba" (the Boss) and Zeki Tüney plays Vahit, with Oktar Durukan as the inspector. Sertaç Karan was director of photography. Kalkavan Film and Erman Film produced it.
