Cevriye (Cevriyem) (translated)

Cevriyem is a Turkish melodrama that opened in cinemas on 1 November 1978. Veteran Yeşilçam director Memduh Ün helmed the picture from a screenplay by Safa Önal; İrfan Ünal produced it for Akün Film, Cahit Berkay composed the music, and Kaya Ererez was the cinematographer. The film runs roughly 84 minutes.

The story pairs a fugitive with the woman who shelters him. Fleeing the police after a tavern brawl, Cevriye comes face to face with a wounded, armed stranger in her hiding place. She takes him home and nurses him back to health, and even after learning that he is accused of murder and theft she refuses to turn him in. As feelings grow between her and the stranger, whose name turns out to be Ahmet, the two look for a way to stay hidden and stay together while the police close in.

Türkân Şoray stars as Cevriye opposite Kadir İnanır as Ahmet, with a supporting cast that includes Neriman Köksal, Erol Taş, Reha Yurdakul, Süleyman Turan and Ali Şen. As was common practice in Turkish cinema of the era, several performances were dubbed by voice actors.
