Epic (Destan) (translated)

Destan is a Turkish historical fiction television series produced by Mehmet Bozdağ under the Bozdağ Film banner. Premiering on ATV on November 23, 2021, it concluded after two seasons with its 28th episode on September 15, 2022. Written by Nehir Erdem and Ayşe Ferda Eryılmaz, the series was directed at various stages by Emir Khalilzadeh, Fethi Bayram, Metin Günay, and Ali Aytaç Sakal.

Set on the Central Asian steppes, the story draws on Turkish epics rather than historical reality. At its core is the legendary love between Akkız, a warrior mountain girl orphaned when Alpagu Khan killed her father, and Batuga, Alpagu's disabled son. Starring Ebru Şahin, Edip Tepeli, and Selim Bayraktar, the series follows the two heroes' pursuit of justice and revenge against the Gök Khan.
