İpek Karapınar — Biography

İpek Karapınar (full name Azize İpek Karapınar) is a Turkish actress born on 20 March 1984 in Istanbul. She trained as a violinist at the Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University before turning to acting. She made her screen debut in 2006 with the series Hatırla Sevgili, and the same year drew attention as Aslı Yazıcı in the series Köprü. She went on to appear in Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu (2008), played Cansu in Talih Kuşu (2008) and took a role in Doludizgin Yıllar (2009).

Her real breakthrough came as Arzu in the teen drama Küçük Sırlar (2010). She played Sinem in Zehirli Sarmaşık (2011), Nihal in Ustura Kemal (2012), Leyla in Adını Kalbime Yazdım (2013) and Yelda Güçlü in Hayat Yolunda (2014). From 2015 to 2018 she starred as Feride in Kırgın Çiçekler, reaching a wide audience, and in 2021 she played Çolpan Hatun in the series Destan. She accepted a marriage proposal from her boyfriend, director Ali Balcı, in Hamburg in April 2025, became engaged in June 2025 and married him in August 2025; in 2026 she announced she was expecting her first child.
