Berk Hakman — Biography

Berk Hakman was born in Ankara in 1981, the second child of a family with roots in Sarajevo. His father, Ataman Hakman, played in Erkin Koray's band; Hakman took up the guitar as a child and later experimented with keyboard and trumpet. While studying tourism management at Akdeniz University he joined a theatre club and a workshop in Antalya, then moved to Istanbul and graduated from the acting department of Mimar Sinan University's State Conservatory.

He entered cinema in 2003 with Okul, gained wide recognition in 2006 for playing Deniz in Hatırla Sevgili, and took the lead in Janjan. He portrayed a police officer in Suskunlar, the first Turkish series sold to the United States for an American remake, and won the Best Actor prize at the Malatya International Film Festival for his performance in Tepenin Ardı.

His credits include Kaçak, Siyah İnci, Duy Beni and Ne Gemiler Yaktım, and in 2025 he returned to screens with Sahtekarlar and the film Gecenin Kıyısı. Beyond acting, he is also a musician and photographer, and composed the song Texas.
