Watchtower (Gözetleme Kulesi)

Watchtower (Gözetleme Kulesi) is a 2012 drama film written and directed by Pelin Esmer, her second feature after 10 to 11. A co-production of Turkey, France, and Germany, it premiered on 8 September 2012 at the Toronto International Film Festival, with filming carried out in the Tosya, Şenpazar, and Cide districts of Kastamonu.

The story follows Nihat, who has taken refuge as a watchman in a fire lookout tower atop a remote forest, and Seher, a former bus hostess who has ended up at a small bus station in Tosya. Fleeing from others, the two lonely strangers cross paths and must continue their private battles with guilt under each other's witness. Olgun Şimşek and Nilay Erdönmez star in the lead roles, joined by Menderes Samancılar, Rıza Akın, Laçin Ceylan, and Kadir Çermik.
