Dracula is in Istanbul. (Drakula İstanbul'da) (translated)
Drakula İstanbul'da (Dracula in Istanbul) is a 1953 Turkish horror film directed by Mehmet Muhtar, written by Ümit Deniz and produced by Turgut Demirağ. The screenplay draws on Ali Rıza Seyfi's 1928 novel Kazıklı Voyvoda, a loose reworking of Bram Stoker's Dracula that relocates much of the story to Istanbul. The Mina counterpart Güzin is reimagined as a showgirl, while the Renfield character is dropped, and the film explicitly links Dracula to the historical Vlad the Impaler.
The plot follows Azmi, an Istanbul lawyer who handles the Romanian Count Dracula's property purchases in the city, only to discover that his client is a vampire descended from the Impaler Voivode. Shot on a small budget—with advertisements inserted into some scenes to cover costs—the film stars Atıf Kaptan, whose Dracula is regarded as the first screen vampire shown with fangs. It later received a standing ovation at a horror film festival in the United States.
