The Lover
The Lover (original title Khaterkhah) is a 1972 Iranian drama film written and directed by Amir Shervan. The cast is led by Nasır Melek, Füruzan and Bahman Mofid, with additional appearances by Mehri Vadadian, Shahla Riahi, Hossein Shahab, Farhad Mohabbat, Reza Hajian and Hossein Amirfazli. Shot in Persian, the picture belongs to the popular melodramatic tradition of pre-revolutionary Iranian cinema, in which Shervan was an active commercial filmmaker. Documentation on the film is scarce, but its ensemble of well-known performers of the period makes it a representative example of mainstream Iranian filmmaking of the early 1970s.
