The Water Diviner

The Water Diviner, released in Türkiye as Son Umut, is a 2014 drama and war film co-produced by Australia, Turkey and the United States, marking Russell Crowe's directorial debut. Written by Andrew Anastasios and Andrew Knight and loosely based on the book of the same name, it premiered in Sydney on 2 December 2014 before opening in cinemas on 26 December 2014.

Set in 1919, just after World War I, the story follows Australian farmer Joshua Connor, who travels to Turkey to trace his three sons who never returned from the Gallipoli Campaign. His search, stretching from Istanbul to Gallipoli, is aided by Turkish officers Hasan and Cemal. Crowe stars alongside Olga Kurylenko, Jai Courtney, Yılmaz Erdoğan and Cem Yılmaz. The film won Best Film at the 4th AACTA Awards, where Erdoğan also received the award for Best Supporting Actor.
