Akasya Asıltürkmen — Biography

Akasya Asıltürkmen, born Akasya Asıl Türkmen on 14 April 1977, comes from a family of mixed Circassian, Georgian, Laz and Turkish descent and works as a Turkish film, stage and television actress, voice artist and acting coach. She began performing as a child through a course at the Ali Poyrazoğlu Theatre, and made her screen debut around the same time in the 1996 film İstanbul Kanatlarımın Altında. She trained at the Theatre department of the Mimar Sinan State Conservatory, later broadening her craft through workshops in camera acting, diction and musical performance. Onstage she appeared with Semaver Kumpanya in productions such as Onikinci Gece and Süleyman ve Öbürsüler, and with the Istanbul State Theatre in Fesleğen Çıkmazı, continuing later with plays including Aşk Kokusu, Bekarlığa Veda and Pamuk Prenses Müzikali. On screen she is known for series such as Dayı, Saklambaç, Tarık ve Diğerleri and İpsiz Recep, and films including Çilekli Pasta and Araf. Alongside acting she continues to work in dubbing and coaches younger performers.
