Ezgi Asaroğlu — Biography

Ezgi Asaroğlu was born on 18 June 1987 in İzmir and studied social anthropology at Istanbul University's Faculty of Letters; she started out in television commercials before making her screen debut at seventeen in the series Bir Dilim Aşk. Her first major film experience came with the 2008 Austrian-French co-production For a Moment, Freedom, which won nearly thirty international awards and served as Austria's submission shortlist for the 2010 Academy Awards.

Back home she won praise for Kampüste Çıplak Ayaklar and Acı Aşk, then found her real breakthrough as Leyla in Leyla ile Mecnun (2011), which brought her a wide fan following. Her role in Cennetten Kovulmak earned her Best Actress at the Dublin Silk Road Film Festival, and the film itself won Best Film at the Golden Orange Festival.

From 2014 to 2017 she held a long-running lead as Bahar in the series O Hayat Benim, and went on to appear in the films Aşk Kırmızı and Sağ Salim 2: Sil Baştan. In 2020 she joined Mucize Doktor, playing Ezo, a character living with bipolar disorder.
