Love, Bitter (Acı Aşk)

Love, Bitter (Acı Aşk) is a 2009 Turkish drama film co-produced and directed by A. Taner Elhan from a screenplay by Onur Ünlü. Running about 92 minutes, it opened nationwide in Turkey on December 18, 2009 and was screened in competition at the 29th International Istanbul Film Festival, drawing roughly 140,000 admissions.

The story follows Orhan, a literature professor in Eskişehir, who abruptly abandons his fiancée Ayşe and relocates to Istanbul. There he marries Oya, a photographer, but disturbing events in the early days of their marriage trap him in a dangerous love quadrangle, complicated further by his student Seda, who drags him onto a path that is hard to escape. The lead roles are shared by Halit Ergenç, Cansu Dere, Songül Öden and Ezgi Asaroğlu.
