Muhterem Nur — Biography
Muhterem Nur, born Olga and later registered as Aysel Muhterem Kısa, was a Turkish film actress and singer. She was born on 31 December 1932 in Bitola (then part of Yugoslavia, now North Macedonia) and was brought to Istanbul as a small child, growing up in the Eyüp district.
She entered cinema with a small part in the 1951 film Beni Mahvettiler and went on to become one of the recognizable faces of Yeşilçam through films such as Kezban, Aşkın Acıları, Aşkın Gözyaşları and Aşk Rüyası; she also had a brief singing career in the mid-1960s and continued acting into the 1980s with films like Son Akın.
Later in life she reunited with and married singer Müslüm Gürses. A recipient of the Golden Orange Lifetime Achievement Award, Muhterem Nur died in Istanbul on 20 March 2020.
