Şükran Ovalı — Biography

Şükran Pınar Ovalı was born on April 1, 1985, in the Eşrefpaşa district of İzmir; her grandfather was of Albanian descent, and she spent her childhood in Bahçelievler before finishing Mustafa Urcan Primary School, Fevzi Çakmak Secondary School and Selma Yiğit Alp High School in Göztepe, then moving to İstanbul and graduating from the acting department of the Müjdat Gezen Art Center.

She made her television debut in 2002 with Sırlar Dünyası and her film debut in 2006 with Pars: Kiraz Operasyonu, then became known in 2007 as Merve in Bez Bebek; she took lead roles in Kahramanlar (2009) and Reis (2011), played Nuran Öğütçü in the Orhan Kemal adaptation Kötü Yol (2012), and won the Selection Committee Special Award at the 22nd Sadri Alışık Theatre and Cinema Awards for her role as Safiye in Ekşi Elmalar (2016).

After productions including Cinayet, Şeref Meselesi, Paramparça, Familya, Vatanım Sensin, Poyraz Karayel: Küresel Sermaye, Yargı, Hazine, Erşan Kuneri, Kal. and Cenazemize Hoş Geldiniz, she played Canan in Kalpazan in 2024, and was announced as part of the cast of Organize İşler: Karun Hazinesi, a Netflix series created by Yılmaz Erdoğan. She married footballer Caner Erkin in Rome on January 2, 2017, and the couple have a daughter, Mihran Ela.
