Buffalo Soldiers (Acemi Askerler)

Buffalo Soldiers is a 2001 satirical black comedy adapted from Robert O'Connor's 1993 novel of the same name. Directed and co-written by Gregor Jordan, the film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Ed Harris, Anna Paquin and Scott Glenn, with Turkish actor Haluk Bilginer also appearing in the cast.

Set in 1989, shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall, the story follows American soldiers stationed in West Germany. Company clerk Ray Elwood runs drug and stolen-goods rackets on base until the arrival of a tough new sergeant disrupts his schemes. The film premiered at the 2001 Toronto International Film Festival, but its release was delayed following the September 11 attacks, and it reached cinemas in 2003. It received five nominations at the British Independent Film Awards.
