Almost Peaceful

Almost Peaceful (original title: Un monde presque paisible) is a 2002 French comedy-drama film directed by Michel Deville, who also co-wrote the screenplay. It is adapted from Robert Bober's novel Quoi de neuf sur la guerre ?, winner of the 1994 Prix du Livre Inter, and runs about 94 minutes.

The film features a large ensemble cast including Simon Abkarian, Zabou Breitman, Vincent Elbaz, Denis Podalydès, Clotilde Courau, Julie Gayet, Stanislas Merhar and Malik Zidi, while Lubna Azabal—whose biography appears on our site—plays Jacqueline. In the year of its release, the film was selected for the main competition of the 59th Venice Film Festival, gaining visibility on the festival circuit and a generally favorable reception from critics.
