Ankara Summer: Farewell Letter (Ankara Yazı Veda Mektubu) (translated)

Ankara Yazı Veda Mektubu is a 2016 Turkish drama film directed by Kemal Uzun from a screenplay by Deniz Aydenk. Produced by TRT, Gala Film, and Altın Koza, it was released on 6 May 2016, with filming carried out in Adana and its surrounding districts.

Set in the period of the 12 September military coup, the story follows Mustafa Pehlivanoğlu, the only son of Ahmet and Zeynep, who is arrested as the alleged perpetrator of the incident that would enter the records as the Balgat massacre. Subjected to brutal torture and threatened through his fiancée Yasemin, he confesses to a crime he did not commit, only to declare his innocence in court and explain that his statement was extracted by force. Because another young man, Nejdet Adalı, has already been sentenced to death, the junta decides that Mustafa must also hang to preserve a grim balance.

His parents organize a prison escape, and Mustafa gets out, but while trying to say goodbye to Yasemin he is betrayed and recaptured. When his mother and father arrive to visit him, they learn that he was quietly executed days earlier. Gürkan Uygun plays Ahmet, İpek Tuzcuoğlu plays Zeynep, Münir Can Cindoruk plays Mustafa, and Burçin Abdullah plays Yasemin.
