Battal Gazi's Son (Battal Gazi'nin Oğlu) (translated)
Battal Gazi'nin Oğlu is a 1974 Turkish historical adventure film directed by Natuk Baytan from a screenplay by Duygu Sağıroğlu. Produced by Uğur Film, it is the final entry in the Battal Gazi series and stars Cüneyt Arkın alongside Zerrin Arbaş, Bilâl İnci and Yavuz Selekman.
The story opens as Battal Gazi, the legendary warrior feared by Byzantium, falls in battle outside the walls of Malatya against the armies of the cruel commander Antuan, leaving his sword planted in the ramparts for his newborn son. When a soothsayer tells Antuan that Battal's son will one day grow up and kill him, Antuan orders every male child in the region slaughtered, unaware that Battal's infant has been switched with his own child. Raised on a burning desire for vengeance, the young hero eventually confronts his father's enemy. A characteristic swashbuckling Yeşilçam epic of its period, the film is known for its sweeping battle sequences.
