Bliss (Glück)

Bliss (original title Glück) is a 2012 German drama directed by Doris Dörrie. It reached Turkish cinemas as Mutluluk on March 29, 2013 and runs about 112 minutes. The film had its world premiere on February 15, 2012 as part of the Berlin film festival, and Dörrie had already won the Best Director prize at the 2011 Bavarian Film Awards for it.

The story is set in Berlin. Irina (Alba Rohrwacher), forced to leave her country by war, survives by selling her body, while Kalle (Vinzenz Kiefer) is a homeless, jobless drifter. The two outcasts meet and fall in love, hoping to leave their hard circumstances behind and build a life together. They rent an apartment and find work that pays enough, and Irina in particular does not want to remember her past. Just as they believe they are heading toward happiness, an unexpected event turns their rosy world upside down. Alongside Rohrwacher and Kiefer, the cast includes Matthias Brandt, Andrea Sawatzki, Maren Kroymann, Margarita Broich and Aykut Kayacık.

Dörrie also wrote the screenplay, adapting a story from Ferdinand von Schirach's 2009 collection Verbrechen, which is based on real cases.
