Christmas Tango

Christmas Tango (Greek: Το Τανγκό των Χριστουγέννων) is a 2011 Greek drama film adapted from the novel of the same name by Yannis Xanthoulis. Directed by Nikos Koutelidakis from a screenplay by Vangelis Nassis, it stars Yannis Bezos, Giannis Stankoglou, Antinoos Albanis and Vicky Papadopoulou.

Set in a military camp in the Evros region during the Regime of the Colonels, the story follows Lieutenant Stefanos Karamanidis, who is in love with Zoe, the wife of Lieutenant Colonel Manolis Longos. Wishing to invite her to dance the tango at the Christmas celebration but unable to dance himself, he asks his soldier Lazarus Lazarou for lessons — unaware that Lazarus secretly harbours feelings for him. Released on 1 December 2011, the film grossed about $1.9 million, earned praise for its performances, and won Hellenic Film Academy awards for costume design, set design and original music.
