Crazy Yusuf (Deli Yusuf) (translated)
Atıf Yılmaz directed Deli Yusuf (Crazy Yusuf), a colour Yeşilçam film from 1975 that mixes comedy, action and adventure. Erman Film made it with Hürrem Erman as producer, and it runs 90 minutes. The script is credited to Umur Bugay, Bülent Oran, Berrin Giz and Atıf Yılmaz. The story draws heavily on the Köroğlu legend: a brave young man standing up to a rich man who oppresses ordinary people.
The villain is the factory owner Bolulu Abbas (Ali Şen), who deals in illegal business and wants the shanties of Çamlıbel torn down. The neighbourhood asks Deli Yusuf (Kadir Savun) for help, and Abbas orders a bulletproof car. Yusuf builds an armoured vehicle that responds to voice commands but demands that the residents receive their title deeds in return. When Abbas goes back on his word, Yusuf's son Ali (Cüneyt Arkın) sets out to win the car back and face him. Zerrin Arbaş plays Melek; Muadelet Tibet is Raziye Bacı, Osman Alyanak Tarık, Kudret Karadağ Ayı Hasan and Mümtaz Ener Musa Çavuş. Erol Keskin plays the intelligence man and also dubs Ali Şen.
Cahit Engin was cinematographer and Cahit Berkay wrote the music. Yeni Stüdyo handled pre-production and dubbing. Bulldozers, beer and a tank-like car feature in the story.
