Yumurcak, the Kid from Under the Bridge (Yumurcak Köprüaltı Çocuğu) (translated)

Türker İnanoğlu directed and produced the 1970 colour Yeşilçam film Yumurcak Köprüaltı Çocuğu, mixing comedy, drama and adventure. Fuat Özlüer and Erdoğan Tünaş wrote it for Erler Film. The little hero Yumurcak is played by İlker İnanoğlu, with Cüneyt Arkın as his father Nihat and Filiz Akın as his mother Selma. It runs 84 minutes.

Yumurcak, whose pranks upend the neighbourhood, lives happily with his taxi-driver father Nihat (Karaköy to Eminönü), mother Selma, sister Zeynep and dog Çomar. When Nihat saves Aysel, a singer at the Havana Bar, from the advances of Bekir, one of the bar's partners, she has him drive her to and from work nightly. Bekir and fellow partner Tayfur are rivals over Aysel; Tayfur kills Bekir and has the body found in the trunk of Nihat's car. Nihat is arrested, the death penalty is sought, and Selma loses her sight in a traffic accident. Backed by his father's taxi-rank friends, a judge and the commissioner, Yumurcak must keep the household afloat, pay for his mother's operation and prove his father innocent.

The rank's drivers bring the humour: Kadir Savun as Korna Mehmet, Adnan Mersinli as Stepne Recep, Sami Hazinses as Viraj Ali and Necdet Tosun as Trafik Ahmet. Süha Doğan plays Tayfur and Nevin Nuray Aysel.
