Yumurcak, the Bridge Underground Kid (Yumurcak Köprüaltı Çocuğu) (translated)

This 1970 Turkish film, directed and produced by Türker İnanoğlu, follows Yumurcak, a mischievous little boy whose pranks stir up the whole neighborhood. His father Nihat drives a shared taxi between Karaköy and Eminönü, and the family — his mother Selma, sister Zeynep and their dog Çomar — lives happily together. One day Nihat rescues Aysel, a nightclub singer riding in his cab, from the harassment of Bekir, one of the club's co-owners. Impressed by his courage, Aysel asks Nihat to drive her to and from the club every night; although he first refuses on principle, he eventually agrees.

But Tayfur, the club's other partner and a rival for Aysel's affection, murders Bekir and plants the body in the trunk of Nihat's car, framing him for the crime. Nihat is arrested and faces the death penalty, while Selma loses her sight in a traffic accident. Young Yumurcak, helped by the loyal drivers at his father's taxi rank and a sympathetic police commissioner, must now support the family, pay for his mother's eye operation and prove his father's innocence.
