Mademoiselle Chambon

Mademoiselle Chambon is a 2009 French drama directed by Stéphane Brizé, adapted from Éric Holder's 1996 novel of the same name. Vincent Lindon stars as Jean, a construction worker who spends his days on building sites and leads a contented, uneventful life with his wife and young son. When Jean visits his son's school to talk about his trade, he crosses paths with the boy's substitute teacher, Véronique Chambon, played by Sandrine Kiberlain. Although they belong to very different social worlds, a tender, understated attraction quietly grows between them. The encounter unsettles Jean's carefully ordered routine, leaving him torn between the family life he has built and the unfamiliar feelings this elegant, enigmatic woman awakens in him. The screenplay is credited to Florence Vignon, Stéphane Brizé and Éric Holder, and the film won the César Award for Best Adaptation.
