A Magnificent Haunting (Şahane Misafir)

Magnificent Presence (Magnifica presenza), released in Turkey as Şahane Misafir, is a 2012 Italian comedy-drama directed by Ferzan Özpetek, who co-wrote the screenplay with Federica Pontremoli. Pietro, a 28-year-old Sicilian, dreams of becoming a famous actor. He moves to Rome, takes a job in a pastry shop and, after staying with his cousin Maria, rents a flat of his own. Soon he notices strange occurrences: objects seem to move by themselves and odd whispers echo at night. Pietro discovers that he is sharing his charming apartment with seven and a half ghostly tenants.

Özpetek's ninth feature stars Elio Germano as Pietro, with Margherita Buy and Cem Yılmaz among the cast. The film screened at the 34th Moscow International Film Festival, where it won the audience award, and Germano received a Globo d'Oro in 2012 for his leading performance. The score is largely by Pasquale Catalano, with special songs composed by Sezen Aksu.
