The Sleeping Car Murders

The Sleeping Car Murders (French: Compartiment tueurs) is a 1965 French mystery film directed by Costa-Gavras, marking his feature directorial debut. Adapted from Sébastien Japrisot's novel of the same name, the screenplay was written by Costa-Gavras together with Japrisot.

The neo-noir production stars Yves Montand, Simone Signoret, Michel Piccoli, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Catherine Allégret, Jacques Perrin and Charles Denner. Made before Costa-Gavras turned to more politically oriented work, the film won the US National Board of Review award for best foreign film and was also nominated for the Edgar Allan Poe Award.
