Derivative (Türev)

Derivative (Turkish: Türev) is a 2005 Turkish drama film written, directed and produced by Ulaş İnaç. The screenplay draws on the story "The Impertinent Curious Man" from Cervantes' Don Quixote, transposed to contemporary Istanbul, and the score was composed by Toygar Işıklı.

The film follows three people who confess their thoughts to a camera each evening for a movie project, as their relationships grow increasingly tangled. Süreyya, about to marry the young writer Nazım, doubts his fidelity and asks her best friend Burcu to seduce him as a test. Burcu reluctantly agrees, but when she falls in love herself, the scheme slips out of its creators' control. Gülçin Santırcıoğlu plays Süreyya.

Released nationwide in Turkey on November 18, 2005, the film won Best Film and Best Actress at the 42nd Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
