Words in Progress
Épreuves d'artistes (Words in Progress) is a French television film made by Samuel Faure and Gilles Jacob in 2004 for the Cannes Film Festival. It forms the third and final part of a trilogy devoted to the seventh art. The film brings together celebrated figures of world cinema: actors such as Clint Eastwood, Gérard Depardieu, Fanny Ardant, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Michel Serrault and Monica Vitti appear alongside directors including Pedro Almodóvar, Quentin Tarantino, Wim Wenders and Michelangelo Antonioni. Conceived as a tribute to filmmaking and the craft of acting, this documentary-style work offers an intimate panorama of artists reflecting on their experiences in front of and behind the camera, framed by the atmosphere of the Cannes festival.
