Mert Yazıcıoğlu — Biography

Mert Yazıcıoğlu was born on May 10, 1993 in Istanbul, where he completed his primary, secondary and high school education before enrolling in the Management Department of Istanbul Aydın University; he later left his studies to pursue acting. After visiting a series set where a friend was working, he decided to become an actor, joining the Cast 33 agency founded by Sumru Onat and then training under Ümit Çırak at the 3 Mota Eğitim Atölyesi workshop. He made his screen debut in the film Dedemin İnsanları and took a small part in the series Kayıp Şehir.

He rose to wide recognition playing Baran Şamverdi in Karagül between 2013 and 2016, then went on to play Fırat in Umuda Kelepçe Vurulmaz and Korkut in the historical series Mehmed: Bir Cihan Fatihi. In 2018 he took the lead in İyi Oyun, one of Turkey's earliest feature films built around competitive video gaming, and around the same time played Mahir Yetkin in Bir Litre Gözyaşı. His role as Sinan in the Netflix series Aşk 101 (2020-2021) brought him international recognition, and in 2022 he played Kerem Servet in Darmaduman.

His performance as Cüneyd Güneş in the widely discussed drama Kızıl Goncalar (2023-2025) won him the Best Actor prize at the 50th Golden Butterfly Awards as well as a GQ Men of the Year award. He began playing Orhan Gazi in the historical series Kuruluş: Orhan in 2025, and in 2026 returned to headlines with a new series, Kalbimin Rotası Karadeniz, filmed on the Black Sea coast.
