Özcan Deniz — Biography

Özcan Deniz was born on 19 May 1972 in Ankara, and spent his childhood in Aydın after his family moved there. In his youth he was involved in amateur theatre, and in 1985 he won first prize at the Traditional Voice Festival in Aydın.

Discovered by producers in Munich after moving to Germany in 1989, the artist released his first album Yine Ağlattın Beni in 1992 and Meleğim, which brought him fame, in 1993; he continued his music career with albums such as Çoban Yıldızı, Leyla, Hediye and Bi Düşün.

Known as an actor for series such as Asmalı Konak, Haziran Gecesi, Karagül, İstanbullu Gelin, Seni Çok Bekledim and Kızıl Goncalar, Deniz also starred in the films Evim Sensin, Su ve Ateş, İkinci Şans and Öteki Taraf, which he wrote and directed. In July 2026 he performed at the Konya Culture Route Festival.
