Mustafa Uğurlu — Biography

Mustafa Uğurlu came into the world in Karaman on November 25, 1955, the child of a health-officer father and a homemaker mother, both with roots in Çorum; a posting took the family from Konya to Bursa while he was still a toddler, and he grew up and was schooled there. He is one of four siblings, and his brother Ahmet Uğurlu also became an actor. Uğurlu joined a state theatre company in 1978 and, starting in 1982, took stage roles -- and later directed several plays -- at the state theatres of Ankara and İstanbul, picking up a 1996 Sanat Kurumu Derneği prize for his part in Gürültülü Patırtılı Bir Hikaye.

Television came first in 1993, when he appeared in Rıza Beyler; wider fame followed in 1997 through the film Ağır Roman, a role that brought him a Golden Orange trophy for supporting work. From there his film résumé grew with Asansör in 1999 and later Kolay Para and Çamur.

Milat in 2015 preceded his best-known part, Inspector Yusuf in İçerde, which he took on in 2016. He appeared in Seni Çok Bekledim in 2021 and Aldatmak in 2022, then played Davut in the Netflix series Şahmaran across 2023 and 2024. His brother and fellow actor Ahmet Uğurlu passed away in May 2024 at age 71.
