The Elevator (Asansör) (translated)
Asansör (The Elevator) is a 1999 Turkish drama directed by Mustafa Altıoklar. It is based on the novel The Battle of the Predators at Twilight by the French writer Henri-Frédéric Blanc, with Mustafa Uğurlu and Arzu Yanardağ in the leading roles.
The story follows television producer Can Şarman, who goes to a building to meet a mysterious stranger he encountered online, only to find himself stuck in the elevator. His days-long confinement turns the film into a chamber piece in which the tension builds through the character's deteriorating state of mind.
The production drew criticism for its closeness to Combat de fauves, a 1997 French film drawn from the same novel, yet it went on to receive the Best Lighting award at the 12th Ankara International Film Festival in 2000.
