Nihal Koldaş — Biography

Born in 1956, Nihal Geyran Koldaş spent most of her career on stage, also working as a director. She joined the Bilsak Theatre Studio in 1997, performing in Shakespeare's Hamlet and in Hamletmachine by Heiner Müller, and co-wrote the play Park Yapılmaz there with Ceysu Koçak. In 2003 she staged Özel Bir Gün for Tiyatro Diyez, with Hale Soygazi in the lead, and the next year adapted Sevim Burak's story Mut for the stage with Aylin Deveci and Gözde Saner.

She made her screen debut in 1989 with the series Cahide, but is best remembered for co-producing Masumiyet (1997) with Zeki Demirkubuz and playing Yusuf's mute elder sister, and as the servant Gönül in Kanal D's Bıçak Sırtı (2007). She took the lead in Kuma (2012), directed by Umut Dağ, and appeared in the films Çoğunluk (2010), Mustang (2015) and Ana Yurdu (2015). Her honors since 1994 include a Yunus Nadi award for the Ebruli İstanbul screenplay, and prizes for Çoğunluk, Ana Yurdu and Nora 2 from the Sinema Yazarları Derneği, Altın Koza and Afife Theatre Awards. She later appeared in İçerde, Şahsiyet, Zemheri, Kağıt Ev and Mahkum, and in 2026 said farewell to the series A.B.İ., in which she played Saadet.
