Şebnem Hassanisoughi — Biography

Şebnem Hassanisoughi was born on 7 December 1985 in Istanbul. Her father is a lawyer of Iranian Azerbaijani descent and her mother a Turkish notary; her surname means "the beautiful one's path" in Persian. She trained in theatre at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory's Department of Theatre before completing a master's degree in Film and Drama at Kadir Has University. Besides stage and commercial work, she is known as a versatile performer who can play guitar, drums and harmonica.

She began her screen career in 2007 with the series Sessiz Gemiler, and after productions such as Dantel, Annem, Kılıç Günü and Firar, appeared in Tatar Ramazan (2013) and Poyraz Karayel (2015); she became widely known for playing Eftelya in Vatanım Sensin (2016). In film she appeared in Geriye Kalan (2012), Eve Dönüş: Sarıkamış 1915 (2012), Bulantı (2015) and Kelebekler (2018), and played Şebnem Sualp in the series Yabani (2023). She appeared in the film O da Bir Şey mi in 2025, and returned to screens in 2026 as Aylin Borokay in the series Doktor: Başka Hayatta. She is married to fellow performer Ahmet Kenan Bilgiç.
