Sevil Akı — Biography

Sevil Akı Saner was born on September 9, 1971, in Erzurum and spent her school years in İzmit. After business studies at Trakya University, she enrolled in the theatre department of the Müjdat Gezen Art Center in 1991 and completed her acting training in 1995. She first took the stage with the Espri Standartları Enstitüsü Kurumu troupe, of which she was a founding member, then appeared in the State Theatres' musical "Kadı" before spending three seasons with the Ortaoyuncular company; during the same period she also performed in Akbank's children's plays. In 2000 she joined the İstanbul City Theatre, where she remained on stage for many years, and won Best Actress of the Year at the 2015 Lions Theatre Awards for her role in Sırça Hayvan Koleksiyonu.

She began her television career with Gurbetçiler (1996) and went on to appear in series such as Tatlı Hayat (2001), Hacı (2006), Benim Annem Bir Melek (2008) and Keşanlı Ali Destanı (2012). She became widely known for playing Emine in Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz (2015), and that same year also appeared in the film Nadide Hayat. She appeared in Aman Reis Duymasın in 2019 and Ben Bu Cihana Sığmazam in 2022. Since 2026 she has played Azize in the series Yeraltı.
