Fallow Deer (Ala Geyik) (translated)

Ala Geyik is a 1969 Turkish feature film directed by Süreyya Duru. The screenplay was written by Erdoğan Tünaş, adapted from Yaşar Kemal's work Üç Anadolu Efsanesi. Produced jointly by Erman Film and Acar Film, the color film was shot in the mountains of Antalya and runs about 90 minutes.

The film stars Cüneyt Arkın, Mine Mutlu and Bilâl İnci. It tells the story of Halil, whose greatest passion is hunting deer in the mountains. While Halil is away on a hunt, Karaca Ali, one of the region's ruthless beys, falls in love with Halil's fiancée Zeynep and uses his power to have her engaged to himself. When Halil returns, he confronts Karaca Ali to win back his beloved; yet his obsession with pursuing the fallow deer leads to tragic consequences.
