The Great Oath (Büyük Yemin) (translated)

The Great Oath is a 1969 Turkish drama-adventure film directed and produced by Memduh Ün from a screenplay by Duygu Sağıroğlu. It was shot in the mountainous region around Antalya.

The story opens when a villager named Ahmet is killed by Hamza of the Zaloğlu family. Ahmet's young son Ali kills Hamza in revenge despite his age and is sent to prison. When his sentence ends and he returns home, the blood feud is revived with himself as the target: Hamza's son Dursun (Bilâl İnci) begins hunting him down, and Ali's mother is tortured by Dursun during the pursuit. Meanwhile Dursun's sister Ayşe (Füruzan), who has sworn alongside her brother not to leave their father's blood unavenged, falls in love with the family's enemy Ali, turning the feud toward a tragic course.

Cüneyt Arkın plays both Ali and Ahmet, with Fatma Girik, Füruzan and Bilâl İnci rounding out the principal cast.
