Directed and written by Osman F. Seden, the 1977 Turkish drama Ana Ocağı follows Fatma, who loses her husband and takes over his transport business so she can raise her children alone. As the years pass and the children grow up, she struggles to keep them under control. Her son Kadir, shaped by a fatherless and impoverished childhood, has become a restless young man chasing money and power, ambitions that draw him into the criminal underworld. A crime boss named Kamil begins using him for his illegal dealings, but Kamil is hiding a dark secret: he is responsible for the death of Kadir's father. Fearing that the young man might someday uncover this truth, Kamil lays a trap for him. Starring Kadir İnanır and Fatma Girik, the film depicts the disintegration of a family and one young man's dangerous entanglement with crime.
