The Cowboy Who Loved His Horse (Atını Seven Kovboy) (translated)

Atını Seven Kovboy ("The Cowboy Who Loved His Horse", also known as Red Kit Daltonlara Karşı) is a 1974 Turkish western comedy directed by Aram Gülyüz. It adapts the Belgian comic-strip hero Red Kit — the Turkish name for Lucky Luke, drawn by Morris with later scripts by René Goscinny — in a screenplay written by producer Özdemir Birsel. Sadri Alışık takes the title role, joined by a cast said to include Figen Han, Sami Hazinses, Ali Şen and Aydın Babaoğlu, the dwarf actor familiar from the Keloğlan films, as the story follows Red Kit's comic showdown with the outlaw Dalton brothers.

The film came four years after Gülyüz had already directed an earlier black-and-white Red Kit comedy starring İzzet Günay. It belongs to a wider cycle of roughly fifty Turkish cowboy pictures made between 1960 and 1975, an era when Italian filmmakers were turning out spaghetti westerns in imitation of Hollywood and Turkish producers followed with what became known informally as "Yeşilçam Westerns." Despite matching its Italian counterparts in sets and costumes, the picture is a comic-book family adventure rather than the sex-comedy fare that dominated much of the era's genre cinema.
