Lady Ayhan (Ayhan Hanım) (translated)
Ayhan Hanım is the second feature film by Levent Semerci, who directed it, wrote the screenplay and served as cinematographer, following the box-office success of his debut Nefes: Vatan Sağolsun. Filming began in 2011, and the movie was released in 2014.
Ayhan Hanım is a modest housewife with no interest in politics, married to a retired non-commissioned officer and mother of four sons. In the chaotic days leading up to the military coup, three of her sons are caught up in the era's political turmoil while she, her husband and her youngest boy try to stay clear of it; after the September 12, 1980 coup, the family begins to fall apart. Shot on a Taksim Square set built in Eskişehir and in studio, the film stars Vahide Perçin in the title role.
