The Mill (Değirmen) (translated)

The Mill is a 1986 Turkish comedy film directed by Atıf Yılmaz. Adapted from Reşat Nuri Güntekin's novel of the same name, its screenplay also involved Barış Pirhasan.

The story unfolds in 1914 in the small town of Sarıpınar. A district governor deeply devoted to his duties attends an evening of entertainment that is meant to last just one night. When the belly dancer's spirited performance shakes the ground, everyone mistakes it for an earthquake. The rumor snowballs as it spreads, eventually reaching the Sultan himself and even making headlines around the world.

Şener Şen and Serap Aksoy take the leading roles, with Orhan Çağman and Taner Barlas also appearing in the cast.
