Conquest 1453 (Fetih 1453)

Conquest 1453 is a 2012 Turkish historical epic and war film directed and produced by Faruk Aksoy. Written by Atilla Engin and İrfan Saruhan and produced by Aksoy Film, the project drew on historians such as Feridun Emecen and Hülya Tezcan as consultants, while British composer Benjamin Wallfisch wrote the score. With a budget of roughly 18 million dollars, it was the most expensive Turkish production of its time.

The film follows the young Mehmed II, who returns to the throne after the death of his father Murad II and pursues his ambition to conquer Constantinople, weaving the story of the soldier Ulubatlı Hasan into the siege. Starring Devrim Evin, İbrahim Çelikkol and Dilek Serbest, it opened in February 2012 and became a huge box-office success, setting records as the first Turkish film to pass the five- and six-million-viewer marks.
