Door (Kapı) (translated)

Kapı (The Door) is a 2019 Turkish drama film directed by Nihat Durak, written and produced by Filiz Üstün Durak for Durak Film. It follows a Syriac family from Mardin who emigrated to Berlin years earlier; filming in Mardin took place in the Midyat and Savur districts and in the Syriac village of Killit (Dereiçi). Wood craftsman Yakup and his wife Şemsa return home with their granddaughter Nardin after a phone call about their son Mikhael, whom they lost twenty-five years earlier. Finding his village abandoned and his house looted, Yakup discovers that the door he once built with his son has been removed, and sets out on a search that carries him to Kayseri and Istanbul.

Kadir İnanır and Vahide Perçin lead the cast, alongside Timur Acar, Erdal Beşikçioğlu and Aybüke Pusat. The film also drew attention as Kadir İnanır's first screen appearance after a seven-year hiatus.
