Timur Acar — Biography

Born on 22 December 1979 in Munich to a family of Georgian descent originally from Artvin, Timur Acar spent his childhood there before his family settled in the Karasu district of Sakarya following the 1999 İzmit earthquake. That same year he took up theatre and trained at the Theatre Department of Dokuz Eylül University's Faculty of Fine Arts, and became one of the founders of Moda Sahnesi, a theatre venue in Istanbul.

Acar became known for his roles in the period drama Kurşun Yarası and the series Avrupa Yakası (2006) and Akasya Durağı (2010); he made his film debut in 2005 with Organize İşler and reached a wide audience playing Necmi in the Çakallarla Dans comedy franchise, then drew attention by portraying three different characters at once in the 2014 series Kertenkele. He also appeared in Bebek İşi, Barbaros Hayreddin: Sultanın Fermanı and Şahane Hayatım, and currently plays the twin brothers Yiğit and Yunus in the series Nerdesin Birader.

He married in 2007 and divorced in 2009, then married actress Eda Özerkan in 2016; the couple had a daughter in 2022. In 2025 he appeared in Bağlantı Hatası, a film addressing cyberbullying, and that same year announced he had taken up olive farming, harvesting his first crop on land he had bought in İznik.
