Sahel-e Entezar

Sahel-e Entezar (Persian: ساحل انتظار, "Shore of Waiting") is a 1963 Iranian drama written and directed by Siamak Yasemi. Its cast features Mohammad-Ali Fardin, Füruzan, Taghi Zohouri, Ali Zandi and Akbar Khajavi. Shot in Persian and running roughly 110 minutes, the film is remembered above all as the screen debut of actress Füruzan, which gives it a special standing in Iranian film history.

The premiere had been planned for 15 Khordad 1342 (June 1963), but the upheaval that erupted that day — the uprising triggered by Ayatollah Khomeini's arrest — forced a postponement. The picture is also occasionally described as the first Iranian film with an original score, a claim that does not hold: earlier works such as Chaharrah-e Havades (1954) and Shab-neshini dar Jahannam (1956) had already used film music.
