Fate (Yazgı) (translated)

Movie · 2001 · 3 people

Fate (Yazgı) is a 2001 Turkish drama film directed and written by Zeki Demirkubuz. Loosely adapted from Albert Camus' 1942 novel The Stranger, it forms the first part of the director's thematic trilogy "Tales About Darkness," followed by Confession (2001) and The Waiting Room (2003).

The story centers on Musa, a customs officer who reacts with a strange indifference to everything around him, showing no grief at his mother's death and no objection when accused of murder. Serdar Orçin plays Musa, with Engin Günaydın and Zeynep Tokuş also in the cast. The 119-minute film was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2002 Cannes Film Festival.
