Erdal Küçükkömürcü — Biography

Erdal Küçükkömürcü was born on 1 April 1958 in Ankara. He graduated from the Ankara State Conservatory in 1981 and joined the company of the Ankara State Theatre. Over many years on stage he appeared in plays such as Kral Lear, Üç Kız Kardeş, Woyzeck, Cadı Kazanı and Satıcının Ölümü, and also directed productions including Kuzguncuklu Fazilet, Nafile Dünya and Palto. His performance in Satıcının Ölümü earned him the most successful actor of the year title at the Sadri Alışık Anatolian Theatre Actor Awards for 2015-2016. The Art Lovers Association (1991, 2005) and the Turkish Critics' Association (1993) also named him best actor.

Teaching is a major part of his career. He gave theatre courses at METU and at Hacettepe, Anadolu (Eskişehir), Ankara and Başkent universities, led seminars on voice and diction, and teaches acting at Bilkent University. In 2005 he served on the literary board of the State Theatres.

On screen he became known through Gülşen Abi and Yılan Hikayesi, and went on to series such as Kurtlar Vadisi Pusu, Eşkıya Dünyaya Hükümdar Olmaz (as the intelligence officer Davut), Sefirin Kızı, Evlilik Hakkında Her Şey, Kirli Sepeti and Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı. His films include Devrim Arabaları, Kaybedenler Kulübü, Labirent and Benim Dünyam; in 2026 Çatlı was released and he joined the cast of the Kanal D series Daha 17.
